The Tanzania Library Association (TLA) has successfully concluded its 51st Annual Conference, Professional Workshop, and General Meeting, held from February 10–14, 2025, at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Zanzibar. The prestigious event brought together librarians, information professionals, ICT experts, and stakeholders from government ministries and civil society organizations to exchange insights and best practices in library information management and services.


Conference Highlights

The conference, themed “Navigating the Future: Innovations and Best Practices in Library Information Management and Services,” featured a series of panel discussions, workshops, and keynote presentations addressing transformative technologies, digital literacy, user-centric services, artificial intelligence in knowledge management, and the role of libraries in preserving cultural heritage in the digital era.
Experts and professionals engaged in thought-provoking discussions on digital transformation, data-driven decision-making, and inclusivity through technological advancements. The professional workshop, themed “Navigating the Prospects: Innovations and Best Practices in Librarianship,” provided an interactive platform for knowledge-sharing and skills development among participants.

During the Annual General Meeting, held on the final day of the conference, new leaders were elected to steer the association towards future growth and innovation. The newly elected TLA leadership comprises:
